Experience St Paul’s Cathedral

We offer curriculum connected themed Guided Visits for all key stages from EYFS to KS5, all of which are adaptable for SEND students/groups. These sessions are suitable for schools, home educators and unifromed organisations. Explore religious symbolism in the Cathedral in our Sacred Space: Sign and Symbols session, available for all year year groups; learn how St Paul’s rose like a phoenix from the Great Fire of London in Ashes to Architecture; marvel at our glorious ceiling mosaics and make your own mosaic tile to take home in our Majestic Mosaics workshop, or discover what inspired Henry Moore in our session The Shape of Everything: Finding Art Everywhere. Investigate the design and architecture behind Wren’s masterpiece in Building a Cathedral; encounter stories of bravery and survival in our From Destruction to remembrance: St Paul's in World War II session, Build on students oracy skills with by taking part in Lets Talk Art: Oracy Workshop or discover the Cathedral's inspirational stories in our Significant Individuals session. For Secondary, prepare students for their GCSE and A Level Religious Studies and take part in a Q&A with a priest in The Big Issues; understand what the Cathedral's Monuments can tell us about the British Empire by booking History Set in Stone: Church, Power and Empire. Examine the role of the Cathedral as both a place of worship and a business in A Fine Line. We also offer specialised GCSE workshops for those doing AQA History Restoration England and OCR History Around Us. Reflect in our space and delve into spiritual flourishing with our session designed for CofE schools, Windows Mirrors and Doors: A Reflective Journey. Develop young peoples self-confidence in this session designed for students in transition to secondary school and learn about an historic visit at the Cathedral in Dr Martin Luther King at St Paul's . Schools from outside of the UK are welcome to visit St Paul’s Cathedral but will need to book via the Admissions Department. Please click here for further details. Bursary All schools from the area of the Diocese of London, visiting after the 1st October 2022, who have a Pupil Premium percentage of 30% and over in their school, may be able to reduce the cost of visiting by 50%. This includes all visit types (virtual, self-guided and guided visits) and includes the entrance to the Dome Galleries. Please get in touch if you think you will qualify for our bursary. Pupil Premium percentage must be evidenced via an official document or a letter/email from the Head Teacher. A Spectacular View

For an additional charge of £3.00 you can book a climb up to the galleries above our famous dome. Rain or shine you are guaranteed an unforgettable opportunity to see the London skyline.

Experienced Guides

Our Learning Officers and Learning Volunteers will provide your group with a warm welcome before engaging students in fun and interesting activities and sharing their expert knowledge. Knowledge of the curriculum and the GCSE and A Level syllabus is evident in the excellent tours and all learners and abilities are supported.

Adults Go free

Accompanying teachers, 1-2-1 support and adults can visit free. Please note our required ratio for the dome galleries: • 4 - 8 year olds (primary) - 1 adult to 6 children to Whispering and Stone Galleries only • 9 - 11 year olds (primary) - 1 adult to 8 children to Whispering and Stone Galleries only • 11 - 18 year olds (secondary) - 1 adult to 10 children to Whispering, Stone, and Golden Galleries (Golden Gallery for 11-18 year olds - subject to availability)

Morning Groups

10.15 AM – Arrive via NW Crypt Doors

Please note that there is a bag check in place so you may need to allow a little extra time. You will be met by your guide/s in the Crypt, just outside the shop.

10:30 AM – Session starts

Sessions last between 60-90 minutes depending on which session is booked.

12.00 PM - Lunch Break (start time is approximate)

If you have requested a lunch space then you will be allocated either the learning centre or a lunch room in the Crypt.

12:30 PM – Dome climb/self-guiding

If you have booked the dome galleries then we recommend doing it after lunch. Alternatively you are free to self-guide in the Cathedral. We just ask that, if you are a large class, you divide into smaller supervised groups. Please note that there is a midday Eucharist under the dome from 12.30pm to approximately 1.00pm so we ask that noise is kept to a minimum in that area during this time (GCSE and A Level students are welcome to observe this as part of their visit). You will also need to bring all belongings with you so that the cloakroom area is available for afternoon groups who will be arriving from 12.45pm.

Afternoon Groups

1.00 PM – Session starts

Sessions last between 60-90 minutes depending on which session is booked.

2.00/2.30 PM – Dome climb/self-guiding

If you have booked the dome galleries then we can finish your session at the entrance. Alternatively you are free to self-guide in the Cathedral in the morning and visit galleries then, however, we will not be able to accommodate afternoon groups with a lunch space. We ask that, if you are a large class, you divide into smaller supervised groups when self-guiding.
